Lollapalooza returns to Chicago’s Grant Park August 3-5, 2012. Last year, more than 150,000 people participated in this three-day event, and the lineup for 2012 is going to draw huge crowds again. The colorful headline bands include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, recently reunited Black Sabbath, the Black Keys, and Jack White.
Parking-palooza
With all those people attending, parking for Lollapalooza can be a parking-palooza. Grant Park has underground parking facilities, but they’re likely to fill up first, be the most crowded in terms of getting in and getting out, and are on the more expensive end of the spectrum.
Less crowded, faster out
If you don’t mind walking a short distance (and we really do mean short distance… not “what I really mean is 5 miles” kind of walk, then you might want to look at parking options in and around Soldier Field. Soldier Field will be less crowded and less expensive, and should be easier and faster to get in and out. There’s also a lot at McCormick Place, but it is a little bit of a hike compared to the Soldier Field parking.
Good rates, easy out, food options nearby
There are also a number of Loop and River North garages that are offering Lolla parking. They’re still convenient to Grant Park, and some give you the option of reserving and paying for your parking ahead of time. Jump to special rates
Special discounts
Some parking facilities are offering special discounts for Lollapalooza. The garages offering discounts are listed below (along with a link to buy parking now). Additional parking facilities (who are not offering specials, but are still located close to Grant Park) are listed in the map below.
